Hi Guys, Don't kill the newbie here. I have tried looking everywhere to try and upgrade my Ford Sat Nav. Lots for handheld devices, but not too much for in-car systems. I have tried using the handheld maps, but that doesn't seem to work very well. (Hey, thought id give it a go.
You never know I guess) Anyhow, listed below is currently what my Sat Nav is running, (according the Sat Nav information screen) and I do believe that R18 for Australia has been released. Info: Nav'n'Go iGo 8 (8.3.4.102680) (August 13 2009 to be exact) Current Map: Australia R17 (Whereis data map 100211) Basemap: 2009.09 (090930) Whereis Map Data: Nxx R5 (090708) Note: This is all off a HiTV Touch screen unit and not proprietary Ford. I did buy it 'after market' and not through ford and I don't think its unlocked and the maps are legit. Can anyone help or possibly point me in the right direction.

Maps, information, how to update, do I need to unlock the unit? Anything would be appreciated! @ voodoo1 I don't know that particular unit of yours, but it should not be very difficult to upgrade it to the R18 map. I assume that your iGO8 navigation program resides on a SD card. If that is so, my first try would be to just replace the R17 map with the updated R18.
The Nxx R5 you mention in your post, is a New Zealand map of the same vintage as the R17, so unless you plan to take your car across the Tasman, you wouldn't worry about that side. What I would do, if my assumption about the SD card is correct, is to first of all, get yourself another SD card, of the same size as the existing one, and copy everything off the existing one to the new one. Then test it to see if the new card works in your device. If it does, put your old card away in a safe place and don't touch it again.
If it does not work, or if you cannot copy everything off the old card, we'll have to have another think about it. The next step then would be to get a copy of the R18. Go to You are not allowed to view links. Or to view., and download it from the Torrent link in Post#1.
The other links in that post, I think, are dead. Unrar the download and copy the 'Australia.fbl' and 'Australia.fda' files from that, into the ' content map' folder on your new SD card.

But before that, delete the old 'Australia.fbl' file, and if there is an 'Australia.fda' file there, that also. If all that is succesfully done, test it to see if it works in your device. If it does, you can also delete the POI file(s) from the ' content poi' folder on your new SD card, and replace these with the 'Australia.poi' file from the download. Again test and see if the new card works.
The other files in the download, are not usable in your device. If all that works, you can also go and update the speedcam files, which reside in the ' content speedcam' folder of your iGO8 installation. For the latest Australia spedcam files, see You are not allowed to view links. Or to view., Post #1. If you get that far, download and unrar it. Then delete all files from the ' content speedcam' folder on your new SD, and copy the four '.txt' speedcam files into the now empty folder.
At the next start, iGo8 will compile these into a 'speedcam.spdb' file and also create a new zero byte, 'SpeedcamUpdate.spud file. Thanks for that Ulyssy. Download clean slate full crack. I will give it a good later on tonight and see how we go.
Igo8 Maps Update
Currently at work at the moment so I cant test it right now. I guess the one question I do have is. The links (since I cant check them) are they maps from a hand-held device? I tried to copy maps R18 (Australia) that were used for an igo system on a hand-held device and my in-car system didnt like that very much. Now, granted, all I did was copy maps over to the content maps directory, however, I could have done it wrong or not moved the right files into the right directory. I also didnt delete the files first. I just copied over the top of the original ones (yes, backed it up just in case) The other thing I have done is, I attached a file to show what my directory structure of my SD card looks like when I plug it into my laptop.
Not sure if thats different to what everyone else is used to, but that may indicate why I havent been able to get it to work correctly. Any advice is really appreciated guys.
PS I think the 1wpnavi folder is the older maps that were originally on the SD Card if i remember correctly. I have had it once updated legitimately. Attached File(s) Image(s). @ voodoo1 In iGO, there is no difference in the map files for hand held and car devices.
So these should work in either one. When you say that yours didn't work, how or where did it show up? No map display? Wouldn't boot into iGO8? Did you put these in the corect folder? With SD cards, I have often found that in replacing files, it is safer to delete files from SDs, rather than over-writing them and then copying in the new ones. Doing that, often saves corrupting the files and/or cards, and having to re-format them.
Here is a typical Folders/Files structure of iGO8.3, the v8.3.4.1o2680, the same as yours. There may be additonal Folders/Files in yours. In your case the 'WPNAVI' folder would correspond to the 'iGO8.3.4.102680' here. The 'Backup' folder is created by iGO8 in the root of the SD card. (SDMMC in the display here).
The other ones, I don't know what they are. Perhaps you can post the files structure of them, so that I can see if it's anything important. Ulyssy, If there is no difference between the two versions of the iGO maps, then its is possible i have done something wrong.
I should have elaborated when I said that it didnt work with the copy. Basically I would get an error upon boot up. Its all hard wired to my ignition, so the minute the car starts up, it will automatically start loading the GPS system as if you want to search for a destination. Like Windows starting with the windows splash which loads to the windows logon screen, if you want to think of it that way. It starts loading at splash screen and halts there with an error. I will try to replicate the error again and paste a pic for you to see. Below you can see the directory structure.
Hope it helps in some way. When I copied over the maps, all i did was move them to WPNAVI Navi content map. Its in that dir that contains the.fbl file. (which I believe is that map itself) The second pic contains the R18 files. Again, I probably made an error in moving them, as I dont know how this all works exactly. (again, thanks for the help) Note: the SD card root contents starts at iGO 8 (Original). The folder above it Australia R18 iGO Maps is exactly that, a folder for the new map, but that isnt on the SD card at all.
I have car audio system (satnav, music, radio, cd, Bluetooth, iPod,.etc.) installed in Mazda 6 which I bought 2nd hand from private seller last year. When the audio unit is switched on, it displays Chinese or Japanese writing on first intro screen then displays Main Menu in English. When I select the Nav option, it displays 'iGo MyWay Primo' and all works ok. The Nav application and data is on micro SD card. When I display the micro SD card on my laptop, I see 'IGO8.exe' application and in the content/map folder, I see 'Australia83WhereiS18110126.fbl' FBL file. I want to update this Australia map to more current version.
On the micro SD card I also see some folder names with invalid characters that my WIN 7 laptop cannot open. The iGO MyWay Primo first screen says map updates can be downloaded from NAVIEXTRAS.COM but when I try this via their Toolbox it cannot find my micro SD card (either in SD adaptor or USD card reader). How can I update the Australia map to 2014 version and also include safety cameras option. I don't mind paying/annual subscription for these maps. How do I know which version/release of iGO primo I am using?
